This course involves reading brief texts on different periods and events and then playing simulations and games related to that same topic. Students examine the accuracy, playability, and depth of simulations -- and learn more about history as they do so. In addition, students create their own game designs based on historical topics. The sections below deal with the general ideas related to historical gaming, as well as the specific historical topics we examine in the course.
